Sandra Westlund-Deenihan Recognized for Commitment to Youth

President of the Schaumburg’s Quality Float Works, Inc., and Hanover Township Trustee, Sandra Westlund-Deenihan, has won the Association Of Illinois Township Committees On Youth (AITCOY) 2009 Township Friend of Youth award. The AITCOY award is presented to an elected township official serving an AITCOY organization who has shown an outstanding commitment to youth.

Sandra serves as the Hanover Township Trustee Liaison to the Youth and Family Services Committee on Youth (YFS- COY) and has worked to develop quality services and cheap oakley sunglasses programs an effort to ensure residents receive the level of services and support necessary to build a prosperous community. She is dedicated to raising awareness about available programs for area youth, as well as creating new opportunities to engage their interest and teach them how to become good stewards of their community. Through her own manufacturing company and the Township’s Literacy Connection program, she works tirelessly in promoting literacy and occupational English for the labor workforce and English as a second language (ESL) for the immigrant student population in the community. Through her efforts to connect local youth with the employers, Sandra has served as an unofficial liaison for the business community. She has also expanded the membership of the Township’s Committee on Youth to include the broader diversity represented by the Township population.

“It is truly an honor to serve as an advocate for the residents of Hanover Township, especially the youth,” said Sandra Westlund-Deenihan. “My foremost goal is to offer an additional support system to the families in the region, especially during these tough economic times. I’m humbled by receiving this wonderful award in recognition of something so close to my heart.”
